I’m happy to help troubleshoot if anything goes wrong, but be fully prepared to hear “I’m not sure what happened, you should restore or recreate your FontAgent Pro database” if I something should happen. As I said at the very beginning of this post, although I’m employed by Insider Software, these scripts should not be considered official Insider Software products. Although I’ve tested them and found no major issues, you are encouraged to backup your FontAgent Pro database and FontAgent Pro Fonts folder before using these scripts as anything could happen. If FontAgent Pro does not have the font, it will skip over the font and (obviously) not add it to the set.Īt this point, the scripts are very basic, but I plan on adding more functionality like being able to create a new Set during the import process, or being able to specify that you’d like to export the selected sets as individual files so that they can be later imported as individual files.Īs fare warning, I’m VERY new to programming…in fact, I’d say that these scripts are my very first “applications” that I’ve offered up to the public. During the import process, FontAgent Pro will read in the list of fonts, search FontAgent Pro for the font, and add the fonts to a set. During the export process, the script creates a text file that lists the font names of each font in the selected Sets. They work in tandem one script exports one or more Sets, and the other one imports the Set(s) file.īehind the scenes, some very simply things are happening. With that said, I’m happy to say that I’ve been able to create a couple of AppleScripts that add functionality to FontAgent Pro for Mac. However, this blog and any other content associated with this blog should not be considered officially from Insider Software.
We make a font management application called FontAgent Pro that works on Mac OS X and Windows.
Some people might consider this apart of the normal “Removing duplicate fonts” process, but to others this behavior is a bug.Īs full disclosure, I am a technical support specialist at Insider Software Inc. Also, if you have two fonts that are different versions, the script will still say that they are duplicate fonts. This is an issue because it’s likely that if you have the same font in different formats that it will consider the fonts to be duplicates.
However, if you do have duplicate fonts in multiple libraries, you will get a message saying how many font matches it found and a little introduction with instructions on how to use the script. If there are no duplicate fonts in your FontAgent Pro libraries, you will get a message saying there are no duplicates.
To install the script move or copy it to /Library/Application Support/FontAgent Pro/Scripts folder. Hot of the heels of the script I wrote yesterday, I went back to work and finished a different script today that removes duplicate fonts from FontAgent Pro libraries. As you might already know, FontAgent Pro doesn’t let you import duplicate fonts into the same library, but that doesn’t prevent people from importing the same font(s) into a different library or worse, multiple libraries.
